Supporting Tibetans, their country, true wisdom cultural practices and way of life, from a corrupt Chinese government, (committing monstrosities), interference, destruction and occupation. China has is own huge area; it’s a marvellous culturally rich and beautiful country/ people. Leave Tibet in its own right – that is all it wants, (that is its right). It is not doing any harm.
Prayers for a complete change in the government in China, for fresh (un-groomed), ethical new- blood. The same in other governments in the world where the leaders are unethical practice/ corrupt. They are responsible for the wellbeing of large numbers of people and the direction of a country/ nations, and collective action in an increasingly unified world. To stand united in good governance and that starts with oneself. Power in awareness not ego-attachment. Look after the micro, it takes care of the bigger impact.
Thhe famous analogy from Shantideva’s Bodhicharyavatara (Chapter 5, v. 13-14) highlights that true peace comes from mastering one’s mind, not controlling external circumstances. Instead of trying to cover the entire world with leather (making the world comfortable), it is equivalent to covering just one’s own feet (cultivating inner resilience and self-control). This is road to peace for self and other in the world.
Key Teachings of the Analogy:
Controlling the Mind: Rather than trying to change external situations or people, one should focus on managing their own reactions and emotions.
Resilience vs. Control: Just as wearing sandals protects your feet regardless of the ground, strengthening the mind allows you to handle life’s challenges without needing the world to be perfect.
Practicality: Trying to control every external event is impossible and futile; inner discipline is the way/ truly effective and achievable goal.
Shantideva explains that when the mind is tamed and restrained, there is no need to fear or try to control anything else.
*Shantideva (c. 685–763 CE) was an 8th-century Indian Buddhist monk, philosopher, and poet associated with Nalanda Monastery, revered for composing the Bodhicaryavatara (Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life). As a practitioner of Mahayana Buddha Dharma and Mādhyamaka philosophy, he focused on developing bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment) and profound compassion.
